  • Description: One of the songs said to have been sung after a tribal raid - a morality song after victory, so that the people will continue to be strong and not be thrown out of their country. It was sung when Europeans first entered the country about the end of the last century when Sir Harry Johnstone first ruled the country. "You! It is A Kachere who has increased the population of this country. There should not be prostitutes, it is forbidden or you will be thrown out by the white men." The Kachere mentioned in the song was the father of the present Chief who is about 70 years old. The song is no doubt derived from the old Nguni custom of purification after fighting. A fighting song with clapping.

  • Description: The Lesiba is a wind blown stringed instrument, mostly played by herd boys as they herd their cattle on the hills. It consists of a slightly bent stick of abour 36-40 long. Along one side is strained a string, sometimes of horse hair or sinew, to one end of which is attached a section of fowl's quill.   • Description: Played with 3 notes. The notes were roughly hewn pieces of wood laid across the thighs ans played by means of sticks. In this case, the player stood behind the back of the young man on whose thighs the notes were played and beat the notes bending forward over his shoulders. The man acting as xylophone stand sat on a stool with his feet on another stool. Beneath his thighs was a large pot used as simple external resonator. The instrument is played out in the fields when preparing the winter gardens in May. Once the gardens are planted, the xylophone notes are discarded and used as fire wood, new ones being cut each year. The position of the loose notes was changed with each change of tune to facilitate the playing of the item. The pause during the 3rd recording was caused by one of the notes rolling down the boys's thigh and having to be replaced. Self-delectative song with Chikirekore loose note xylophone x 4 notes, pot resonated.
