All the ligands were transformed into the dihydroxy silicon octaphenoxyphthalocyanine with varying degrees of phototransformation quantum yields ranging in order from 10⁻³ to 10⁻⁵ depending on the axial ligand involved. During and after axial ligand transformations a photodegredation of the dihydroxy silicon octaphenoxy phthalocyanine was observed upon continued irradiation. The oligomers were found to undergo the same axial ligand transformation process with a phototransformation quantum yield of 10⁻⁵ The singlet oxygen quantum yields of the unaggregated monomeric silicon octaphenoxy phthalocyanines were all found to be approximately 0.2 with the exception of a compound with two (trihexyl)siloxy axial substituents that had a singlet oxygen quantum yield of approximately 0.4 in dimethylsulphoxide solutions. The oligomers showed a surprising trend of an increase in singlet oxygen quantum yield with an increase in phthalocyanine ring number up to the pentamer and then a dramatic decrease to the nonamer. The triplet quantum yield and triplet lifetime were determined by laser flash photolysis for selected compounds and no correlation was observed with any of these properties and the singlet oxygen quantum yields. These selected compounds all fluoresce and a very good correlation was found between the fluorescence lifetimes determined experimentally by laser photolysis and the Strickler-Berg equation for the non-aggregated compounds. The peridotitic and gabbronoritic rocks are undeformed and mineral fabrics demonstrably result from magma flow. A horizontal, centimeter-scale model layering is visible in numerous outcrops. Plagioclase crystals are both tabular and elongated. Their preferred orientation, parallel to the layering, forms a foliation and a NW–SE lineation, respectively interpreted as the magma flow plane and flow direction. Throughout the 78 stations of this study (699 specimens), magnetic susceptibilities (K[subscript m]) range from 750 to 10,000×10[superscript (−6)] SI. The magnetic anisotropy (P[subscript j]) ranges from 1.03 to 1.08. Magnetic ellipsoids are both prolate and oblate (average T[subscript j]≈0). Anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) fabrics are dominated by multidomain to pseudo-single domain magnetite. High-field magnetic experiments indicate that the paramagnetic contribution from the mafic silicates is less than 50 percentage for low susceptibility rock types. The anisotropy results from magnetite grain shape solely as shown by no significant increase in P[subscript j] with increasing K[subscript m]. The magnetic lineation (305°, 05°) is consistent throughout the sill at various scales and coincides with the mineral lineation in average. In contrast, the magnetic foliation (125° NE 10°) is generally perpendicular to the mineral foliation and to the layering. Several explanations for this odd configuration are discussed. The variations of magnetic parameters across the layering and field observations point to a multiple injection. The degree of harvesting on private land was relatively low, with the majority of trees having been harvested at rates of less than 10 % of the stem below 2 m. Despite this, ringbarking had occurred (4 %). The basal diameters and heights were significantly lower in the protected population than in the harvested one, suggesting that over time elephant impact was the more severe disturbance. Acacia xanthophloea exhibited high resilience to disturbance, with all the elephant damaged trees and harvested individuals surviving. However, the mean bark thickness measured in local markets (6.3±1.4 mm) was significantly lower than that measured in either the harvested (12.4±1.0 mm) or the KNP (10.3±0.8 mm) populations. As harvesters tend to select the largest individuals in a population to maximise their financial returns, this could mean that smaller individuals are being harvested, and/or bark is not being given sufficient time to grow back after harvesting. Acacia xanthophloea outside protected areas thus need to be monitored and the management improved, preferably in conjunction with the resource users.
